IOOC signs Kharg NGL contract with IRITEC

TEHRAN, Oct. 8 (MNA) — Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) and Iran International Engineering Company (IRITEC) signed on Sunday a contract worth €1.2 million to implement Kharg NGL Project.

A consortium of IRITEC and its Italian-based subsidiary, IRASCO, are to implement Kharg  

NGL Project on turnkey basis within 44 months, IRITEC managing director Farhad Farmani said.

 

“The consortium will also finance the Iranian part of the project in addition to rendering services for financing foreign part of the project.” He added that foreign firms cooperate with the consortium on providing machineries and equipment.

 

Kharg NGL is a project to gather 700 million cu. f. of the associated gases produced from the oilfields in Kharg and Bahregan regions, IOOC managing director Mahmud Zirakchian said.  The oilfields include Sorush, Noruz, Bahregansar, Hendijan, Abuzar, Foruzan, and Dorud, he added. 

 

It will also produce methane (403 million cu. f. per day), ethane (62 million cu. f. per day), propane (2,196 tons a day), butane (1,252 tons per day), pentane (2,547 barrels per day), and condensates (4,998 barrels per day), he noted.

 

Feeding olefin, methanol, and petrochemical units in Kharg, prevention of environmental pollution, and the injection of the sour gases produced by the project’s products are other outcomes of Kharg NGL, he further noted.

 

He added that the injection of the sour gases is being implemented for the first time ever in Iran, and is aimed at environmental protection.

 

Zirakchian explained that the contract signed with IRITEC includes the gathering of associated gases on oil platforms, enhancing their pressure to be sent to Kharg, and the conveyance of associated gases to Kharg via undersea pipelines.

 

Additionally, for the first time in Iran, this contract possesses the advantages of Clean Air. In this regard, the National Iranian Oil Company signed a memorandum of understanding (Mou) worth over $300 million with Norwegian Statoil Company, he stated.

 

He also stated that IRITEC consortium was selected from among 27 companies participating in the tender on the project.
