Tehran, Ankara determined to develop all-out ties: Haddad-Adel

TEHRAN, June 19 (MNA) -- Majlis speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said here on Monday that Iran and Turkey are determined to develop all-out ties.

In a meeting with members of the Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group, Haddad-Adel noted that Iran has prioritized strengthening ties with Islamic and neighboring states and Turkey is both a neighboring and a Muslim nation.

The Majlis has a favorable opinion about expanding political, parliamentary, cultural and economic ties with Turkey, he added.

Pointing to the situation in Iraq, Haddad-Adel said that Iran and Turkey hold similar views about the Iraqi issue and can help establish stability in the crisis-stricken country through further cooperation.

Respecting the votes of the Iraqi and Palestinian people will lead to the establishment of peace and calm in these countries, he said, adding that the Islamic world should give further support to the popular governments in the two countries.

Chairman of the Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group, Ahmet Inal, for his part, said that Turkey enjoys brotherly and friendly ties with Iran.

Inal praised the good trend of political and cultural ties between the two countries and called for efforts to make use of the current potential to develop economic relations.

Turning to the Iranian nuclear issue, he said that Turkey supports Iran’s inalienable right to make peaceful use of nuclear technology as stipulated in the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

He referred to diplomatic negotiations as the only way to settle the dispute over Iran’s nuclear issue.
