Stories from Rumi’s Masnaviy-e Manavi to be published in Portugal

TEHRAN, Apr. 10 (MNA) – A Portuguese version of 40 stories from Rumi’s didactic epic Masnaviy-e Manavi (“Spiritual Couplets”) translated by Sepideh Radfar will be published on September 29, which would have been the 800th birthday of the poet, the Persian service of CHN reported on Monday.

“The Iranian Embassy in Portugal and the University of Lisbon previously held a gathering entitled ‘The Night of Rumi’, which was warmly welcomed by university students,” Radfar said.

“Portuguese people have become interested in learning Farsi and Eastern literature in general over the past few years,” she added.

The Portugal-based Iranian linguist previously translated Nezami’s love story “Leili and Majnun” into Portuguese and also translated some Portuguese Muslim poets’ works into Farsi.
