Iran to launch 4 stem cell research centers abroad

TEHRAN, Apr. 29 (MNA) – In line with transferring technology and technical knowhow, Islamic Republic of Iran intends to set up a number of four equipped research centers in Iraq, Oman, Azerbaijan Republic and Syria.

Chief Executive of Royan Institute Morteza Zarrabi made the above remark and said, “these four stem cell centers will be inaugurated by the end of the current Iranian calendar year in 1397 (to end March 20, 2019).

Royan Institute is a public nonprofit organization which is affiliated to the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR) and was established in 1991 by the late Dr. Saeid Kazemi Ashtiani as a research institute for Reproductive Biomedicine and infertility treatments.

In 1998, the Institute was approved by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education as Cell Based Research Center. Now, the Institute acts as leader of Stem Cell research and also one of the best clinics for infertility treatment. It has 46 scientific members and 186 equipped lab technicians.
