Tehran, Damascus ties “unique in intl. arena”

TEHRAN, Jan. 05 (MNA) – Syrian Prime Minister Emad Khamis hailed Iran-Syrian ties as a unique one in international scenes that could be a role model for neighboring states.

Khamis made the remarks in his meeting with Iranian senior parliamentarian Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Thursday in Damascus.

“Syria appreciates Iran’s constructive role during the tough war and sanctions period that helped the Syrian nation’s resistance,” said the Syrian premier.

Noting the vitality of boosting economic ties in trade, industry and agriculture and furthering the role of private sector, Khamis urged the expansion of economic, cultural, development and investment ties to the deep and high level of political ties Iran and Syria are holding.

Boroujerdi, Head of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, for his part, underlined the unwavering support of Islamic Republic for the Syrian government and nation reaffirmed that Syria would be the ultimate winner of the fight against terrorism.

“Our region is in a critical condition in need of further cooperation and vigilance,” he said.

Boroujerdi is heading a parliamentary delegation in Syria, which has already held talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad and Foreign minister Walid al-Muallem.
