UCLA screens 3 Iranian films

TEHRAN, Apr. 27 (MNA) – In the second day of the 26th anniversary of the UCLA celebration of Iranian cinema two other films were screened yesterday.

The second day of the 26th anniversary of the UCLA celebration of Iranian cinema was initiated by screening I am not angry (Asabani Nistam!), a 2014 Iranian drama film written and directed by Reza Dormishian, at 3 pm yesterday afternoon and proceeded to show Fish & Cat (Mahi va Gorbeh), a 2013 mystery drama slasher directed by Shahram Mokri at 7 pm.

Earlier, in the first day of the celebration Tales (Gheseh-ha), a 2014 Iranian film directed by Rakhshan Banietemad, was screened. Scripted by Rakhshan Banietemad and Farid Mostafavi, Tales stars Fatemeh Motamedaria, Peiman Moadi, Baran Kosari, Farhad Aslani, Mohammadreza Forootan, Golab Adineh, Mehdi Hashemi and Atefeh Razavi.

Shahram Mokri’s Fish & Cat (Mahi va Gorbeh) has participated in many international film festivals so far, and has won Muhr Asia Africa Special Jury Prize at the 2013 Dubai International Film Festival, FIPRESCI Prize and Youth Jury Award at the 2014 Fribourg International Film Festival and the Special Orizzonti Award for Innovative Content at the 2013 Venice Film Festival.

Shahram Mokri is one of the most successful Iranian script writers and directors and has made Ashkan, the Charmed Ring and Other Stories and some short films like Dragonfly Storm, Limit of Circle, Andosi / Ando-C and Raw, Cooked and Burnt.

A 2013 production, I am not angry (Asabani Nistam!) was the only Iranian film in 64th Berlin International Film Festival in 2014. It is Reza Dormishian’s second feature film after the feature Hatred.
