Skywatchers in Iran watch rare Mercury transit
TEHRAN, Nov. 12 (MNA) – Skywatchers in Iran had a chance to witness the tiny planet Mercury passing in front of the Sun in what's known as a transit. The rare celestial event, which occurred on Nov. 11, will not repeat until 2032.

Partial lunar eclipse visible in Iran
URMIA, Jul. 17 (MNA) – Much of the world were able to see a partial lunar eclipse Tuesday night, including Africa, most of Europe, a large portion of Asia, and the eastern part of South American. In Iran, the eclipse was visible from 00:32 to 3:30 AM on Wednesday. The pictures have been taken in West Azerbaijan province in northwest Iran.

Meteorite exhibition in Tehran
TEHRAN, Apr. 29 (MNA) – The largest and first specialized exhibition of Iran’s meteorites opened at the Museum of Anthropology of the UNESCO-registered Golestan Palace, downtown Tehran, on Sunday and will run until May 18. Over 700 meteorite pieces are being showcased during the event.

VIDEO: rare lunar eclipse in northern hemisphere skies
TEHRAN, Jan. 21 (MAN) – An unusual set of circumstances combined in the early hours of Monday in the skies above the northern hemisphere, resulting in a phenomenon called a super blood wolf moon. A total lunar eclipse gave an apparent reddish color to the lunar surface – known as a blood moon. At the same time, the moon got slightly closer to Earth than normal and appeared bigger and brighter than usual – a phenomenon called a supermoon.

Perseids meteor shower
TEHRAN, Aug. 13 (MNA) – The Perseids meteor shower is an annual celestial event associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle. It starts from July 18 and continues till August 25. The most prolific period of the shower is in the nights of Augusts 12th and 13th and in this period you can see between 60 and 70 meteors if you are in a good visiting site.
