TEHRAN, Jan. 07 (MNA) – The first total lunar eclipse of the new Gregorian year occurred as a supermoon, illuminating the night sky.

The phenomenon marked the first supermoon of 2026 and is one of three supermoons expected this year. The total lunar eclipse, coinciding with the moon’s closest approach to Earth, made the moon appear brighter and larger than usual.
