New Braille version of Holy Qur’an published

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) -- A new Braille version of the Holy Qur’an in 11 volumes has been completed, it was announced on Tuesday.

Mahdi Ghafuri, an official at the Rehabilitation Center for the Blind, said the Braille version of the Holy Qur’an is based on Elahi Qumsha’i’s Persian translation and can be purchased from the Rudaki Center.

Braille versions of other religious books such as Nahj-ul-Balaghah in 20 volumes and Sahifa Sajjadieh have also been prepared, he added.

Ghafuri, who is blind himself, said it is difficult for blind people to carry Braille books because they are heavy and asked the relevant authorities to solve this problem.

He suggested that software could be developed for these books, which seems to be the best solution.

He also mentioned a short course which is being offered where blind people can learn how to use computers to learn the Holy Qur’an and its translation.

In conclusion, Ghafuri said that more Islamic audio materials should be made available for the blind.
