Manouchehr Mottaki returns home

TEHRAN, Dec. 14 (MNA) – Manouchehr Mottaki who was dismissed as foreign minister while on a tour of Senegal returned home on Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad fired Mottaki and appointed Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Director Ali Akbar Salehi as the acting foreign minister.

Mottaki had visited Dakar to deliver Ahmadinejad’s message to Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade.

He was welcomed by a number of Foreign Ministry directors.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Iran's foreign policy will not change by the dismissal of Mottaki.

The foreign policy is "decided at higher levels", Mehmanparast noted.
