BBC Persian activities in Iran are illegal

TEHRAN, Jan. 22 (MNA) -- Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hossein Safar Harandi here on Wednesday called the activities of BBC Persian TV channel in Iran “illegal”.

Safar Harandi told reporters after a cabinet meeting that those journalists who work for this news channel inside Iran will get into trouble and their activities are deemed illegal.

He said that Iran has repeatedly warned of cooperation with this channel as the idea behind its establishment is not well-intentioned.

The minister said the BBC English news is different from BBC Persian news.

The BBC Persian TV is doing some secret activities inside the country and the Iranian nationals should be aware of it, he noted.

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry officials can reveal some of its “harmful” actions, he added.

He noted the news aired by the BBC Persian TV is not intended for a “free flow” of information, rather it is “manipulated”.
