President Hassan Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament of Turkey Binali Yıldırım on Saturday in Tehran on the sidelines of the 2nd conference of parliament speakers of Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, China and Russia on the challenges of terrorism, during which he also stressed “Iran considers Turkey’s security and stability as its own security and stability and therefore, took clear stances over the coup in Turkey.”
Rouhani added “Iran appreciates the efforts of the Turkish President and government for development of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The Iranian President went on to say, “Iran welcomes faster implementation of agreements between the two countries in different fields, such as energy and banking relations.”
“In their latest meeting, Iran, Turkey and Russia decided to discuss economic cooperation in addition to security issues of the region.”
“Iran and Turkey have long been facing the scourge of terrorism and whenever they have boosted cooperation in fighting terrorism, their achievements have increased,” he added.
Binali Yıldırım, for his part said that “Turkey will continue its relations with Iran in any conditions and the US sanctions against Iran is not fruitful.”
He also said that terrorism is the common enemy of countries like Iran and Turkey, and called for joint cooperation in fighting terrorism.
