Zarif, Lavrov discuss ME issues in phone call

TEHRAN, Dec. 18 (MNA) – The ministry of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation announced that the foreign ministers of Iran and Russia held a telephone conversation on Monday exchanging views on the latest developments in the Middle East.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, held a telephone conversation on Monday to exchange views on the latest developments in the Middle East, solution for the regional crises, and the Iran deal, the ministry of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation announced in a press release.

On December 18, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif at the latter’s initiative.

The officials continued the discussion of the current situation in the Middle East with an emphasis on searching for ways to defuse crises.

They also stressed their mutual dedication to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding Iran's nuclear program. The IAEA regularly confirms that Tehran strictly observes its commitments under the Plan.
