Iran’s boxing referee receives 3-star judge title

TEHRAN, Jun. 03 (MNA) – Majid Abbasszadeh, Iran’s boxing umpire, joined the 3-star judges of International Boxing Association (AIBA) for his good performance at Islamic Solidarity Games.

The young Iranian referee, who had been deployed to 2017 Baku games to judge boxing competitions, managed to fulfill requirements of the referee committee and received the three-star title.

Abbaszadeh appeared inside the ring as the main referee for nine competitions and was present at ringside for 29 matches to score the bout and assign points to the boxers.

At the end of the tournament, the supervisor of the event expressed his satisfaction with performance of the young Iranian referee and awarded Abbaszadeh with the three-star title.

Prior to Abbaszadeh, three other Iranian boxing judges had managed to receive the credible title including Babak Bordbar, Farzad Sadeghpour and Ali Jafari.
