The tournament had brought together boxers from Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
Accordingly, Iran’s Iman Ramezanpour pulled out a sweeping victory over a host country rival in the finals of +91kg weight division to snatch Iran’s only gold medal.
Competing in 49kg weight group, Omid Ahmadsafa conceded a defeat to a contestant from Uzbekistan in the final showdown and received the silver medal.
Also, Shahin Mousavi secured a bronze medal after suffering a defeat against a rival from Azerbaijan Republic in the 75-kilogram category.
Iran’s Salar Gholami however failed to receive medical permit for the semifinal fixture due to an eye injury and added another bronze to Iran’s tally of medals.
As such, the Iranian outfit landed third overall at the tournament with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
National teams of Azerbaijan Republic and Kazakhstan finished in the second and third places, respectively.
Silk Road international boxing tournament had attracted a total of 195 athletes who offered their best boxing skills through the four-day even in Baku.
