President al-Assad, in a cable, also congratulated Rouhani for the trust that was given to him by the Iranian People to continue strengthening Iran’s position and its role in the region and the world as a whole.
The cable indicated that Iranian Presidential election presented to the world an example to be followed as it was held in a high sense of democracy and responsibility.
President al-Assad wished President Rouhani and the Iranian people more success, stressing the continuation of the work and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran to enhance the security and stability of the two countries, the region and the world.
Similarly, Qaboos bin Said al Said, the current sultan of the Sultanate of Oman, issued a message to felicitate Hassan Rouhani’s victory in the 12th presidential elections in Iran.
Sultan Bin Said, while congratulation the Iranian President for his return to the office for a second term, wished him success and prosperity.
The message also emphasized the need for close ties between Iran and Oman in addition to expansion of relations in all arenas.
Also, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, in a message, commended Rouhani for his success in Friday election saying “the victory is an indication of the trust the Iranian nation has in you and marks an appreciation of your efforts in development of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as welfare of people.”
Aliyev said he attached great significance to Tehran-Baku ties and added “current ties have been raised to strategic collaborations which are satisfactory. Political dialogue, bilateral relations and Iran’s support of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity are significant issues.”
He pointed to reinvigoration of bilateral relations between Iran and Azerbaijan in recent years thanks to joint meetings and negotiations as well as agreements and joint plans which help bolster bilateral relations.
At the end of his message, Azerbaijani president wished Dr. Rouhani health and happiness in future activities in line with promotion of welfare for the Iranian nation.
President Rouhani has won a second term in office with 57,13 percent of the vote.
