Promoted by Africa Taekwondo Union (AFTU), the event is underway from 07-09 April 2017 in Agadir of Morocco where 239 taekwondo fighters are competing for medals.
Women events in -46, -53, -62 and +73 weight divisions were held on Saturday and Iran’s Fatemeh Maddahi and Kiana Akhavan (046kg), Fatemoeh Omouri (-53kg), Hananeh Hemmati and Parisa Javadi (-62kg) as well as Nafiseh Mokhlesi and Fatemeh Mostafaei (-73kg) managed to bring home four gold, silver and bronze medals.
At -46-kilogram weight category, Maddahi clinched the title while Akhavan finished vice-champion. Mostafaei landed first in -73kg group though Mokhlesi stood on the third podium.
Today, remaining taekwondo practitioners will face rivals in -49, -57, -67 ad +67kg weight groups with Sudabeh Poursadeghi and Nahid Kiani (-49kg), Mahsa Jeddi and Tayebeh Parsa (-57kg), Hanieh Akhlaghi (-67kg) in addition to Akram Khodabandeh (+73kg) will represent the Persian side.
The Iranian outfit is led by Mahrou Kamrani as the head coach as well as Sarah Khoshjamal and Reihaneh Fouladi as couches.
