Iran’s Mohsen Abdi in men’s +75kg category defeated his Russian and compatriot opponents on road to the final encounter where he pulled out of the tournament due to injuries conceding to silver medal.
Mehdi Pourrahnama trounced his Russian rival 6-3 in the final of the men’s -75kg section to claim Iran’s first gold medal.
In the -61kg weight group, Sajjad Javanbakht conceded a 3-15 loss to his Mongolian rival, and stood on the second podium.
Mahmoud Ja’farzadeh and Saeed Sadeqiyanpour also out powered rivals in -75kg and -61kg categories respectively, and added two more gold medals to Iran’s tally at the tournament.
Ahmad Narimani conceded a 2-5 defeat from his Kazakh opponent in the last contest of men’s +75kg section and received a silver medal.
Iran’s Azizi picked up a bronze medal in the men’s +75kg weight category at the event in the Philippine capital city of Manila.
Iran men’s squad claimed the Asian title while the overall male and female ranking was in favor of Russia with 4 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals followed by Iran (3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze) as well as Mongolia (2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze) who finished second and third, respectively.
