TEHRAN, Jun. 26 (MNA) – The attitude of Tehran towards Washington will not be charged until the Americans stop their hostile behavior towards the Iranian nation, the spokesperson of the Iranian foreign ministry says.

Nasser Kan'ani made the remarks on Monday in his weekly press conference.

Iran will not tie its foreign relations and national interests to the fate of relations with a specific country or a specific issue or case, he noted. "Regarding foreign relations, we will act in line with national interests."

The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the US is clear, Kan'ani said, referring to the criminal behavior of the American regime with the Iranian government and the nation.

Iran's view of the US has been formed due to its hostile behaviors, he said, adding that as long as the behavior of the US towards Iran has not changed, it is natural that the attitude of the Iranian government and people towards the American government will not change.

The American government should be held accountable for the crimes against the Iranian people, he stressed.

Asked about the recent news about the unwritten agreement between Iran and the United States, he said, "We do not confirm media speculations about negotiations to lift sanctions and do not comment on this."

Iran has adhered to the negotiation process and the negotiation table so as to secure the rights of the Iranian nation, he added.

Iran proposed establishing assembly for Persian Gulf states

Kan'ani referred to the recent trip of the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to four littoral states of the Persian Gulf and the positive atmosphere in the region.

Amir-Abdollahian embraced the initiative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres concerning the Persian Gulf region, he said, adding Iran proposed the idea of establishing a dialogue and cooperation assembly, which was welcomed by various countries; thus, the regional states will be provided with the details of the idea.

The spokesman went on to say that the Islamic Republic has emphasized and continues to underline the need for maintaining regional security and Iran considers it a prerequisite for expanding trade relations between different nations.

MKO terrorists dangerous even for their hosts

In response to a question about Mujahedin-e Khalq (MKO) terrorists and the discovery of their espionage equipment by the Albanian government, Kan'ani said that the MKO has a terrorist nature.

MKO was previously on the list of Western terrorist groups, but with a political and questionable approach, it was removed from the list, he criticized.

He stressed that the terrorist nature of the MKO is not hidden from anyone, and it can also be dangerous to its host.

Underlying the fact that MKO terrorists have assassinated 17,000 Iranians, Kan'ani said, "We have taken several legal and political measures to sue the MKO crimes, and these measures will continue."

Afghanistan must take practical action over Iran’s water rights

Regarding the issue of Iran’s water rights from the Hirmand River, the spokesman said that negotiations are ongoing between the two sides and the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan recognize Iran’s water rights but, at the same time.

They cite reasons based on lack of water and drought, which Iran says these claims should be investigated in a technical visit, he said.

In addition to announcing its adherence to the joint agreement, the Afghan government should take practical measures to realize the right of the Iranian people from the Hirmand River, he added.
