TEHRAN, Apr. 29 (MNA) – Millions of people have taken to the streets across Iran and other countries in the world to show their solidarity with the Palestinians and condemn Israel’s occupation and atrocities.

The rallies went underway at 10 am in Tehran and over 900 cities across the country and a major part of Muslim states.

The rallies are held to mark Quds Day, which falls on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan and was initiated by the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

People from all walks of life have gathered for the annual event, holding placards with slogans that read ‘Down with Israel, Down with the USA’ to show their contempt for the racist policies of Israel and the US support for the regime.

Hundreds of thousands of Tehraners took to the streets in downtown the capital to commemorate International Quds Day today. Senior Iranian officials also attended the rallies.

Hundreds of residents of Iraq's Basra province took to the streets on Friday morning on the occasion of Quds Day to support the Palestinian people. 

Participants in the rallies in Basra province chanted slogans against Tel Aviv and Washington, strongly condemning the Zionist regime's hostile actions against the Palestinians in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Hundreds of Bahrainis demonstrated in solidarity with the Palestinians on Friday in various parts of the country. The participants in the march demanded the severance of Al Khalifa's relations with the Zionists.

News sources reported that the Palestinians have gradually started to gather in Al-Aqsa Mosque on the occasion of the International Quds Day. According to the latest reports, thousands of Palestinians are currently moving toward the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Nigerian people have taken to the streets in the northern city of Kano to show solidarity with the oppressed  Palestinians on International Quds Day.

Demonstrators carried Palestinian flags, chanted slogans against Israeli atrocities and called for the liberation of occupied territories.

Some of the protesters held pictures of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria on the eve of the Quds Day asking the Nigerian government to allow the cleric to go abroad for medical treatment.

The official Syrian News Agency reported that the Syrian people had large participation in the rallies of International Quds Day in the Syrian capital.

The city of Nasiriyah in Iraq's Dhi Qar province also witnessed a large crowd marking International Quds Day.

The participants in a large march in Nasiriyah, while expressing solidarity with the Palestinians, called on the international community to take action to prevent the continuation of the Zionist regime's aggression.

The International Quds Day march was held with the participation of various walks of the Afghan people in different provinces of the country to support Palestine and condemn the Israeli occupation regime.

As people marched around the world in support of the Palestinians, the people of Pakistan also showed their support for Palestine in the Pakistani capital with anti-American and anti-Zionist slogans.

The Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs announced that 160,000 Palestinians attended Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque today, coinciding with International Quds Day.

International Quds Day rally was held on Friday in Srinagar of Kashmir with many people chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian nation.
