TEHRAN, May 23 (MNA) – Brigadier General Amir Hatami, Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistical Support, said on Wednesday that Iran will keep improving its defensive and military capabilities, regardless of enemies' pressure.

“Without being affected by the West's political propaganda, we won’t hesitate for a moment to enhance military and defensive capabilities of our country,” said Brigadier General Amir Hatami, Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistical Support, on Wednesday.

The Iranian official made the remarks at a ceremony held on the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr from Sadam’s Baathist regime.

“Unfortunately, Iran had not have good confrontations in the past 300 years and the signing of scandalous treaties of Golestan and Tolrkamnchay in 170 years ago which led to disintegration of parts of our territories humiliated the nation,” said the Iranian minister highlighting the importance of victory in the war with Saddam’s regime.

“The operation of liberating Khorramshahr was of high strategic value of the Islamic Republic because it foiled all enemies’ plots to project the newly established Islamic Republic as unable to preserve the territorial integrity of its country,” he reiterated.

“The Islamic Establishment under the auspices of Imam Khomeini thwarted all the strategies of the enemies and the calculations of the West and the East against the Islamic Republic of Iran," Hatami said. "After the successful Operation Beitolmoghaddas, American officials announced many times that they spared no effort to assist Iraqis in the war against Iran,” he added.

Hatami further noted that the 'delusional' remarks made by the US Secretary of State Mike Pompoe against Iran are part of their unfulfilled dreams during the Iran-Iraq war.
