Regional security interconnected: Iran Defense Min.

TEHRAN, Apr. 29 (MNA) – Iran’s Defense Minister Amir Hatami says regional security is interconnected and as such, the country’s Armed Forces are tasked with preserving security and stability across the region.

Brigadier General Amir Hatami made the remarks on Sunday during an inauguration ceremony for a number of newly-admitted officers to the Ministry of Defense.

“The nation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly our Armed Forces, fear no enemy,” he said. “Today, no matter how loud the enemies’ threats, our courageous and strong nation is standing firm, and so far none of our enemies have achieved any of their desired results.”

Noting that the Armed Forces are capable of ‘strategic defense’, he said “we have managed to realize our deterrence strategy by fully relying on domestic power, and defend our national interests and security anywhere they have come under threat.”

“Regional security is interconnected, therefore every part of the Middle East must be secure in order to establish stability across the whole region,” the Iranian minister said. “Today, we are proud to be after preserving peace and security in the whole region.”

Hatami further stressed that the Ministry of Defense as one of the major producers in the country will make every effort to domestically develop all military equipment required by the Armed Forces.
