“The strong ties between Tehran and Manama must continue so that those who want to create insecurity in the region could not achieve their goals,” King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa told Iranian Interior Minister Sadeq Mahsouli who has participated in a security meeting in Manama at the invitation of his Bahraini counterpart.
The king said regional security is dependent on cooperation between all concerned countries, the Iranian Interior Ministry said in a press release.
The visit of the Iranian interior minister to Bahrain at this moment is very important as certain countries and officials try to misinterpret a statement by a former Iranian Majlis speaker who had allegedly said in a speech in Mashhad that Bahrain was once part of the Iranian land.
The king added, “We have no doubt about the friendly policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran toward Bahrain.”
However, the king said Manama’s “concern” was that certain countries “misuse” such statements and “affect regional security.”
For his part, Iran’s interior minister said, “Relations between the two countries is cordial and it will not be affected by mischievous acts of enemies.”
Mahsouli added, “Tehran and Manama will not allow anybody to cause a rift between the two countries and prevent an expansion of bilateral ties under any reason.”
The Iranian minister also extended the Iranian president’s invitation to the Bahraini king to visit Iran.
