IKCO exports cast iron, forged auto parts to Brazil

IKCO to set up Samand assembly line in Senegal

TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (MNA) -– Final agreements on establishing an assembly line to produce the Iranian-made passenger car “Samand” in Senegal was signed between the related authorities of the two countries.

The line capable of annually producing 10,000 cars is planned to be set up near Dakar, capital of this West African country, a fax report released by Iran’s major auto manufacturing company IKCO – Iran Khodro Industrial Group - said here on Wednesday.

 

Some 70 million dollars have been invested in the joint venture project, the shares of Iran Khodro, Senegalese government and the African country’s private sector respectively stand at 60 percent, 20 percent and also 20 percent.

 

Export Development Bank of Iran (EDBI) has expressed its readiness to invest in the huge project, the report quoted an official from the Iranian auto producer.

 

Meanwhile, in another development Iran Khodro’s first consignment of cast iron and forged auto parts were exported to Brazil, IKCO also noted in another fax report on the same day.

 

An official at the plant put the volume of the exported vehicle parts at 20 tons. He expected that the figure would increase in the coming years even further.

 

Iran Khodro first started its limited exports of auto parts to Turkey. At present, however, the company provides large shipments of the parts to many countries including Italy, Tunisia, Brazil and France.

 

The official also noted that the auto manufacturing group is planning to increase its exports of parts by 20,000 tons in the next year.
