Japan after appropriate solutions to continue Iranian crude import: envoy

TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (MNA) – Japanese ambassador to Tehran Mitsugu Saito Tokyo is after arriving at appropriate solutions for the continuation of crude oil imports from Iran.

Making the remarks in a Tuesday meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Special Aide on International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the envoy highlighted that Japan is committed to Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Touching upon the long history of ties between the two countries, he highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in all areas of mutual interest.

For his part, Amir-Abdollahian congratulated Saito on his appointment as the new ambassador of Japan to Iran, hoping that a significant increase in economic ties would occur in his term.

He went on to say that Japan is a major economic and political partner of the Islamic Republic in East Asia, appreciating Tokyo’s support for Iran in the face US unilateral sanctions.

Iran’s strategic policy is to maintain peace and security in the region and safeguard free trade in the Persian Gulf, he added.

US hostile measures against Iran is aimed at controlling Iran’s constructive role in the region, Amir-Abdollahian highlighted.
