Staged at Kolodrum Sport Hall in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, the international sportive event saw the Iranian outfit landing first overall with a total of 299 points. Experienced Iranian wrestlers scooped 14 golds, four silvers and four bronzes and became the champions. The US landed second with seven gold, seven silver and eight bronze trophies yielding a total of 156 points. The third place was occupied by Russians who earned 150 points after winning three gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
Also earlier in Greco-Roman category, veteran wrestlers of Iran had landed first with seven gold five bronzes giving a total of 160 points. Teams from Russia and USA finished second and third with 160 and 114 points, respectively.
Veteran World Championships kicked off on October 10 in Bulgaria’s Plovdiv and came to an end yesterday on October 15.
