In line with strengthening friendly relations and development of maritime interactions between Caspian Sea littoral states, the fifth naval fleet of the Russian Navy moored at Bandar Anzali port of Iran on Thursday.
In the same vein, following a three-day presence in Iran, the Russian fleet conducted a joint naval drill together with Iranian counterparts in the Caspian Sea.
Paykan missile boats of the Iranian Navy participated in the joint exercise with the Russian flotilla.
Russia’s Makhachkala vessel belonging to Caspian Flotilia was arrived in Iran headed by Capitan Dmitriev who met with Commander of the Northern Fleet and the Navy's 4th Zone, Captain Ahmadreza Bagheri during his stay in Iran. He also attended a meeting with governor of Bandar Anzali in addition to visiting Mian Poshteh Palace Museum (Navy Exhibition) where he paid tribute to martyrs of the north Iranian port.
The visit marked the fifth presence of a Russian navy fleet in Iran as flotillas of the Eurasian country has previously arrived in Bandar Anzali in 2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
