Russian warships dock in Iran on goodwill visit

TEHRAN, Jul. 12 (MNA) – The Iranian Navy has welcomed on Wednesday morning Russian navy vessels that docked at Anzali Port in north of the country, carrying the message of peace and friendship.

The Russian fleet dispatched from Makhachkala, the capital city of the Republic of Dagestan on the western shore of the Caspian Sea, anchored at Port of Anzali for a four-day long goodwill visit this morning to cement friendly ties and develop marine interactions among the Caspian Sea littoral states.

The Russian marines are expected to visit Anzali Palace Museum, the martyrs’ cemetery to pay tribute to the city’s martyrs, and hold a meeting with Commander of the Northern Fleet and the Navy's 4th Zone, Captain Ahmadreza Bagheri.

The Makhachkala warships will depart Anzali Port for Russia on Saturday morning.

This is the fifth visit of a Russian fleet to Iranian ports.

Back in March, a flotilla of Iranian Navy vessels docked at the Russian port of Makhachkala for sightseeing and taking part in sporting events.
