URMIA, Apr. 22 (MNA) – The water level of Lake Urmia, northwestern Iran, has increased considerably, thanks to the heavy precipitations during the past months. Shared between West Azarbaijan and East Azarbaijan provinces, it was once the largest salt-water lake in the Middle East; however, decades of long-standing drought spells and elevated hot summer temperatures have shrunk the lake drastically.
