Vahdat Dam in Kurdestan province overflows
SANANDAJ, May 04 (MNA) – The considerably heavy precipitations across Iran in the past weeks have filled up many dams in the country. Vahdat Dam, near the western city of Sanandaj, Kurdestan province, overflowed this week after the torrential spring rainfalls filled all its 215 million-cubic-meters capacity.

Lake Urmia revived by mother nature
URMIA, Apr. 22 (MNA) – The water level of Lake Urmia, northwestern Iran, has increased considerably, thanks to the heavy precipitations during the past months. Shared between West Azarbaijan and East Azarbaijan provinces, it was once the largest salt-water lake in the Middle East; however, decades of long-standing drought spells and elevated hot summer temperatures have shrunk the lake drastically.

Precipitation in Iran grows 31% in 51 years
TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – The precipitation rate in Iran's main catchment areas reached 11.6 millimeters by October 25, registering a growth of 33 percent compared to the average rainfall level in past 51 years.
