Best Football Caricaturists Announced

TEHRAN Jan. 6 (Mehr News Agency) -- The first international football contest, “Internet and Football” was held as a cooperative effort between Iran’s House of Cartoon and the World Football Federation.

The Internet festival was approved by FIFA and was widely supported by the best caricaturists of the world including Vladkovsky from Russia, Yurij Kosobukin, and the famous Vladimir Kazanevsky from the Ukraine.

 

Thirty-six caricaturists from all around the world sent beautiful pieces of the faces of popular football players or the subject of football to the House of Caricature. These pieces were judged by three Iranian judges and two foreign judges through the internet. Two hundred of them were selected for exhibition, of which 70 were displayed at the House of Cartoon, the rest being displayed at the Cultural Center of Art.

 

Achille Superbi from Italy won first prize with his caricature of the portraits of Capello and Ronaldo. Mario Magnetti from Italy won second prize for his caricature of Vierri, and Amir Davudi from Iran won third prize for a cartoon of Totti.

 

In the football subject section, Bahman Abdi from Iran won first prize, Leslie Ricciardi from Uruguay won second prize, and Oleg Loktyev from Ukraine won third prize.

 

The closing ceremony of the competition will be held on January 10 and the top caricaturists will be presented with their awards.

 

Iran’s House of Cartoon will also be holding a contest to raise funds for the victims of the Bam earthquake.
