In a post on his X account on Sunday, Velayati referred to yesterday’s negotiations in Islamabad between Iran and the United States, saying, “The history of Iran's diplomacy, from (the Treaty of) Erzurum to the Islamabad negotiations, has one unifying principle: ‘the protection of dear Iran’.”
He emphasized that just as "Abu al-Hayat Gorge" in Iran's southern province of Fars, has historically symbolized the obstruction of foreign paths into the country, today the key to the Strait of Hormuz is firmly in Iran’s powerful hands.
