The foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Cuba held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, and Bruno Rodríguez, Cuba’s foreign minister, exchanged views during the call on existing capacities for expanding relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, as well as on strengthening coordination within international organizations.
During the conversation, Iran’s foreign minister condemned the US military aggression against Venezuela, calling it a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and the fundamental principles of international law. He stressed the responsibility of all governments and the United Nations to take a firm and explicit stance against this dangerous lawlessness.
Araghchi also praised the Cuban government and people for their resilience in the face of illegal economic pressures and external threats.
For his part, Cuba’s foreign minister condemned the illegal and destabilizing actions of the United States in the Caribbean and Latin America, particularly the recent unlawful aggression against Venezuela and the abduction of its president and his spouse.
He reaffirmed Cuba’s determination to stand firm against any external threats and underscored the need for cooperation and coordination among friendly countries to counter aggressive unilateralism.
