The Leader of the Islamic Revolution received Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his accompanying delegation for a meeting on Wednesday.
In the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei described the expansion of ties with neighboring states as Iran's definitive policy.
Ayatollah Khamenei told the Qatari Emir that Iran considers Qatar a friendly and brotherly nation although there are still unclear and unresolved issues, such as the return of Iranian financial resources that were transferred from South Korea to Qatar, and we know that the main obstacle to the implementation of the agreement that was reached in this regard is the United States."
"If I were you, I would ignore American pressure and return the other side's money. We continue to expect such action from Qatar. There's no difference between US presidents whatsoever," the Leader said.
Qatari Emir, for his part told Ayatollah Khamenei that "Iran's resilience in support of Palestine will never be forgotten."
"Iran and Qatar have agreed to build an underwater tunnel between the two countries. The joint commission between the two countries will be activated soon. The volume of economic exchanges will also increase in the near future," Sheikh Tamim added.
