Foolish American plan for region to get nowhere: Leader

TEHRAN, Feb. 18 (MNA) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has stressed that the foolish US President Donald Trump's plan aimed at relocating people of the steadfast Gaza Strip will not get anywhere.

Ziad Al-Nakhalah, Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, and his accompanying delegation met and discussed with Ayatollah Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Tehran on Tuesday afternoon.

"Currently, international public opinion is in favor of Palestine, and thus no plan can succeed without consent from Gaza's resistance and people," the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei congratulated the resistance on its victory in Gaza. He commended the way resistance handled prisoner exchanges as a testament to its strength before global audiences.

"The great work of the leaders and fighters of the Palestinian resistance in maintaining unity and cohesion and standing firm against the enemy and in advancing the complicated process of negotiations, as well as the patience and perseverance of the people, made the resistance proud in the region."

Referring to some stupid and futile American plans for Gaza and Palestine, the Leader said "These plans will not get anywhere. Those who vowed to eliminate resistance within a short time a year and a half ago, now receive their prisoners from small groups of resistance fighters in exchange for a big number of Palestinians."

Nakhaleh, for his part, congratulated Ayatollah Khamenei on Gaza's victory and attributed it to Iran's consistent support and guidance from late Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

"The Palestinian resistance was effectively fighting America and the West over the past 18 months and despite the inequality of the balance of power, it could achieve major victories," Nakhaleh said.

He highlighted the unity among Palestinian and Lebanese groups on the battlefield and political levels as one of the factors influencing their success in Gaza.

"We will never forget our path of resistance, and we will continue this path as soldiers of the resistance," Nakhaleh said.
