Iran FM discusses  Palestine developments with counterparts

TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a phone conversation with his South African and Irish counterparts discussed the latest developments in Palestine.

In a phone talk with his Irish counterpart Micheál Martin on Monday night, Amir-Abdollahian condemned the crimes committed by the Israeli regime in the siege of the Gaza Strip with the aim of preventing the dispatch of humanitarian aid such as food, water, and medicine.

Saying that the possible spread of the war on other fronts is approaching the inevitable stage, the top Iranian diplomat stressed the need for establishing suitable corridors as soon as possible to send aid to the people of Gaza.

Referring to the daily killing of hundreds of civilians in the Gaza Strip by Zionist forces, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that the Zionist regime must immediately stop its terrorist actions against Palestine.

Martin, for his part, expressed concern over the spread of tensions in the occupied territories and said that it is necessary to observe international humanitarian rights in the war.

He went on to say that Ireland calls for creating a humanitarian corridor to send humanitarian aid to the Gazan people.

The top Irish diplomat also expressed hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran, by playing its unique role in the region, can provide a useful initiative to reduce the scope of the crisis in the region.

The Iranian foreign minister and his South African counterpart Naledi Pandor, in a separate phone call, discussed the latest developments in Palestine and the bilateral relations between Iran and South Africa.

During the phone call, Pandor said that her country is in contact with the United Nations over the situation in Palestine, expressing hope that the tensions would end as soon as possible.
