Bashar Assad to be sworn in as Syrian Pres. today

He won the May election in a landslide with collecting 95.1% of the votes. 

Iran had already congratulated Assad on the victory and the Syrian people for the successful election. 

Holding a successful election as well as the widespread participation of the Syrian people is an important step in establishing peace, stability, tranquility, reconstruction, and prosperity in Syria, said Iran's Foreign Ministry in a statement after the Syrian election.
