A knowledge-based firm exports organic saffron to US, Europe

TEHRAN, Dec. 05 (MNA) – An Iranian knowledge-based company produces and exports organic saffron to the United States and a number of European countries.

CEO of a knowledge-based company, Neda Naghavi noted the moving towards rural sustainable development, completing value chain and removing chemical substances in the saffron production cycle as the main objectives behind producing organic saffron in the company.

No chemical fertilizers, herbicides or other chemicals were used in the production process of organic saffron, she maintained.

The project of producing organic saffron was implemented in one of the villages in Khorasan Razavi province, she said, adding, “approximately, 450 ha of land was allocated for cultivating saffron under the strict supervision of this company.”

The saffron produced in the company has an identification card, so that an organic product has many elements and indicators, she stated, adding, “we have taken all predefined indicators into serious consideration in this company.”

Whole saffron produced in the company are exported to other countries which observe requirement of international standards, CEO of the company opined.

“We have thus far exported our saffron to the United States and other European countries,” she said, adding that the saffron is produced in accordance with international standards.
