Rouhani, Putin discuss Syria over phone

TEHRAN, Dec. 19 (MNA) – Iran’s Hassan Rouhani has discussed with Russian Vladimir Putin Syrian crisis over a phone call.

Mr. Hamid Aboutalebi, an official of the president’s office told reporters on Monday that the phone call sought to bring more coordination in future measures against terrorists in Syria, strengthening joint political steps, improving prospects of delivery of humanitarian aid, and a general call to all other countries to join the efforts to bring Syria stability.

The trilateral meeting which is an Iranian initiative, will discuss, in Moscow, the situation in Syria with Turkish and Russian counterparts joining Iran’s Javad Zarif and Hossein Dehghan on Tuesday. The occurring of the meeting, however, is doubted as Russian ambassador to Turkey was assassinated just hours ago, less than 24 hours before the meeting, which definitely will affect the already cold ties between Moscow and Ankara.
