Iran, Malaysia to boost ICT coop.

TEHRAN, Dec. 18 (MNA) – ITO managing director has called for development of cooperation in information and communications technologies between Iran and Malaysia.

Head of Iran's Information Technology Organization (ITO) Nasrollah Jahangard made the remarks during a visit by a Malaysian economic delegation to the 22nd Iran International Exhibition of Electronics, Computer & E-Commerce known as ELECOMP 2016.

He deemed presence of the Malaysian delegation as an indication of serious determination held by the Southeast Asian company to bolster relations with Iran.

The official further called for removal of banking barriers as an influential factor in reinvigoration of ties between Iran and other countries including Malaysia.

Jahangard referred to holding an economic session with the Malaysian side in ICT sector adding “ELECOMP aims to offer special facilities, introduce Iran’s capabilities and expand collaboration between private sectors of Iran and Malaysia.

Deputy Iranian ICT minister, while pointing to presence of over 60 Malaysian companies in Iran, emphasizing that half of the firms were representatives of the telecommunication and information technology sector of Malaysia.

A 60-strong Malaysian delegation visited the 2016 ELECOMP in Tehran and attended a session with officials of Iran’s Communications and Information Technology Ministry.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, President of Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Datuk Wira Jalilah Baba, who is leading the economic delegation to Tehran, praised Iran’s capabilities in the IT sector stressing that grounds were provided for development of relevant cooperation between the two sides.

The four-day exhibition kicked off at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on Thursday in the presence of Iranian Telecommunications Minister Mahmoud Vaezi and Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari.

A total of 40 foreign companies mostly from China, South Korea and Taiwan are among the participants at the exhibition from December 15-18.

ELECOMP is the greatest commercial event in Iran’s market of electronics and computer products and services. Since its first edition in 1995, numerous players of this stage in Iran have been introducing their latest achievements in software and hardware in ELECOMP every year.
