Aoun election to bolster resistance against Zionism

TEHRAN, Nov. 03 (MNA) – Parliament speaker’s senior advisor of international affairs has hailed political development in Lebanon which selected president, a position which had remained vacant for almost 2 years.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, former deputy-FM for Arab and African affairs met with Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Fadi Haj Ali on Thursday. Mr. Amir-Abdollahian congratulated the ambassador on what he believed was a great step toward addressing political deadlock in Lebanon; “Iran had been watching developments in Beirut with optimism; we believe Michel Aoun’s election to the presidency will bolster resistance front against Zionsts and will contribute further to stability and peace in the region,” he added.

“The White House and Tel Aviv have shared policies in the Middle East which sought to weaken countries in the region; in Syria, they worked to attain a political solution where Mr. Assad would be eliminated from political life of the nation, and since the view was unrealistic, the plan failed.”

Amir-Abdollahian also told the meeting that in Mosul, Iraqi government, along with Public Mobilization and other tribal and ethnic contributors had succeeded in claiming grounds from ISIL. On parliamentary relations, he believed that inter-parliamentary relations would boost overall relations and that Iran-Lebanon Parliamentary Friendship Group would actively contribute to improvement of especially trade and economic relations.

Mr. Fadi Haj Ali, for his part, expressed gratitude for Iran for the country’s support for the nations of the region and Lebanon. “We appreciate Tehran’s role and contribution to stability of the region and welcome improvements in economic ties,” he concluded.
