Iran slams terror attack on Egypt’s Sinai province

TEHRAN, Oct. 16 (MNA) – Iran has condemned the Friday ISIL attack on Sinai province in Egypt which caused at least 12 deaths and injury of several soldiers and civilians.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi, voiced his abhorrence of any act of terrorism carried out in any form and at any place, and once again called on the international community and regional governments to heed the fast growing rate of this terrible scourge.

“The increasing spread of the wave of violence and terrorism and the escalation of terrorist and extremist crimes that target all classes of people in the region, including civilians and military personnel, cannot be stopped and eliminated unless through unity among all governments, a global will, and particularly full vigilance on the part of regional nations,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

Ghasemi went on to stress, “Tehran categorically and decisively condemns any act of terrorism and extremism that is committed by any group in any country, that causes terror, insecurity and instability for the countries in the region and across the world.”

The Iranian diplomat further expressed his condolences and sympathy to the government and nation of Egypt, and condoled with the families of victims over the terrorist attack.
