Afghanistan’s National Security Adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar heading a delegation arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a two-day visit aimed at holding consultations with the Iranian side on ways to expand bilateral and regional cooperation.
In a statement released on Sunday, Ali Shamkhani, Iran's Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) maintained that two sides have conferred on various points of mutual interest regarding security, politics, economy and border issues.
He highlighted the need for maintaining permanent relations with Afghanistan and making efforts for creating tranquility and prosperity for the people of both nations. Shamkhani further underscored the Islamic Republic’s resolve in aiding the economic development of Afghanistan, saying the two countries have agreed to make every effort to achieve common strategies related to national security.
