Pres. Rouhani departs for Baku

TEHRAN, Aug. 07 (MNA) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani heading a high-ranking delegation departed for Azerbaijan’s capital Baku on Aug. 7 to attend the first Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan trilateral meeting.

President Rouhani is accompanied by a number of ministers and other high-ranking officials for this two-day visit to the Azerbaijan’s capital Baku.

According to Parviz Esmaeili, Deputy for Communications and Information at the president’s office, President Rouhani will meet with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev on Monday, August 8, to confer on various issues for trilateral cooperation including energy, trade, communications, environment, transportation, transit and combating terrorism.

The Iranian president will also hold bilateral talks with his counterparts ahead of the Monday meeting. The talks will focus on expanding cooperation with these two strategic countries.

Meanwhile, Putin has expressed Moscow’s intention to continue helping Iran with the implementation of its nuclear deal. He told Azerbaijan's state news agency AZERTAC on the eve of his visit to Baku that Russia willtake part in building eight more nuclear reactors in Iran.
