Maku FTZ hosts 9 foreign ambs.

TEHRAN, Jul. 12 (MNA) – Ambassadors of nine East Asian and Pacific states have arrived in Maku free trade and industrial zone to attend a conference and confer with the Iranian city’s officials.

The visiting ambassadors are slated to attend the Economic and Investment Conference of West Azerbaijan Province to be held on Wednesday in the free trade and industrial zone of Maku.

The Economic Summit will be attended by ambassadors of North Korea, South Korea, the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, New Zealand and Thailand along with officials of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Becoming familiar with economic potentials of the Iranian northwestern province, visiting the international airport, tourist attractions, economic projects as well as meeting the director of Maku FTZ are on the agenda of the foreign ambassadors.

Furthermore, several talks will be conducted during the session over attracting foreign investment to Maku in order to implement envisaged plans in the free trade zone.

Following the joint session in Maku FTZ, a separate meeting will also be held in the city of Urmia with participation of provincial officials and ambassadors of the nine states.

Covering an area of 5000 square kilometers, Maku free trade and industrial zone marks the largest Iranian FTZ and is situated 285 kilometers from Urmia, the capital of West Azerbaijan Province.
