UNFPA representative meets Iran’s deputy labor min.

TEHRAN, Jun. 27 (MNA) – United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) representative met with the Iranian deputy labor minister offering a report on the measures taken by the fund.

Ms. Maha Al-Adavi, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Iran, had a meeting with Iran’s Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Mohammad Taghi Hosseini in Tehran.

The meeting was held at the request of UNFPA representative at the end of her mission in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Al-Adavi appreciated the works done by the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare in supporting UNFPA during its mission in Tehran offering an account of the activities carried out by the fund.

Given that Iran attaches great importance to population policies, she referred to the issue of ageing population saying “the matter is becoming increasingly more significant as numerous countries are faced with population ageing which necessitates adaptation of a holistic and effective population policy.”

“Timely attention to the issue of elderly people and formation of a relevant national council are admirable actions taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran,” highlighted UNFPA representative expressing hope that cooperation and support of the Iranian ministry will continue.”

Deputy Labor Minister for International Affairs Hosseini, for his part, outlined the present of Al-Adavi in Iran as effective recalling “your brief presence in the country was effective in creating an effective and realistic cooperation between UNFPA and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Hosseini voiced hope that the emerged positive atmosphere of cooperation between the two sides will be preserved even after Al-Adavi’s mission in Tehran.
