UAST joins Intl. Association of Universities  

TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (MNA) – Iranian University of Applied Science and Technology joined the International Association of Universities (IAU).

In a bid to develop international relations for scientific and academic endeavors, Iran’s University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST) became a full member of the UNESCO-based worldwide association of higher education institutions.

Middle Eastern universities make up 13% of the membership of the association with some Iranian universities among like University of Tehran, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Ahlol Beyt International University, Al Mustafa International University, Allameh Tabatabai University, Alzahra University, Damghan University, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Imam Khomeini International University, Iran University of Medical Sciences, Islamic Azad University, Raja University, Tabarestan Higher Education Institution, Tarbiat Modares University, University of Birjand, University of Guilan, University of Isfahan, University of Mohaghegh Ardabili, University of Tabriz, Yazd University.  

The International Association of Universities, one of the most well-known and prestigious university associations in the word was founded in 1950.

The Paris-based association is located at the headquarters of UNESCO with mission based on the principles of the right to gain knowledge and tolerating differing views and avoiding involvement in political disputes.

It is also known as the International Universities Bureau of the United Nations bringing together more than 650 higher education institutions and organizations from 130 countries around the world.
