Air defense divisions of the Army and the IRGC are holding the large-scale military exercise, codenamed 'Modafean Aseman Velayat 1401' (Guardians of 'Velayat' Sky 1401), using the country’s domestically-developed air defense missile systems, radars, electronic warfare devices, communication systems, and an integrated air defense network.
Bolstering defenses against enemy threats to the country’s skies and comprehensive defense of sensitive and vital centers of the country are among these drills' goals, according to the spokesman of Modafean Aseman Velayat 1401 military drills Second Brigadier General Amir Abbas Farajpour.
Farajpour said the deployment of air defense systems, with special significance given to their mobility and agility, was carried out at the first stage of the drill.
He explained that the measures were taken in accordance with the principles of passive defense in order to deceive the mock enemy, adding that the exercise covers two-thirds of the Iranian airspace, adding that manned and unmanned aircraft of the Army and IRGC conducted reconnaissance sorties over the area, before detection and combat systems carried out tactical and defensive operations against the mock enemy aircraft.
Iran’s Armed Forces regularly hold military maneuvers to elevate their preparedness and military prowess.
The drills serve as a warning message to the enemies against any act of aggression against the Islamic Republic.
'Modafean Aseman Velayat 1400' was held in October 2021.
