TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the enemy planned to push the inflation rate in Iran up to a three-digit rate but they have failed to reach the set target.

Making the remarks in the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, he said enemies sought to put a huge economic pressure on the Iranian nation and make the economy collapse in the country.

"They planned to push up the inflation up to a three-digit rate in a short period of time but they failed," he said.

"The enemy has not been capable of making our economy collapse," Rouhani said, "Iranian major companies are running and producing various products, while the nation has easy access to basic goods."

He informed that as of the endorsement of economic agreement with Eurasian countries in November 2019, Iran's exports to them have increased by 63 percent.

Exports have been on a positive track despite the coronavirus pandemic, he noted.

Rouhani added that Iran's petrochemical products will be doubled by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 2021) to hit 100 million tons.

Rouhani also addressed the US harassment of the Iranian Mahan airliner in Syria, naming it a true symbol of terrorism. He called for the international bodies to take legal actions against the US move.

He addressed the White House officials saying that "There is only one option for you and that is respecting regulations and fulfillment of international laws to compensate the loss you made Iranians incur."
