TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) – Some 371 Iranian nationals imprisoned overseas have been repatriated to Iran since the beginning of the current fiscal year (March 21), as senior official at the Ministry of Justice said.

Mahdi Shahrokhi, director general for international cooperation at the Ministry of Justice, said based on prisoner extradite agreements, the detainees have been sent to Iran to spend the rest of their terms in their homeland.

According to the official, 289 convicts were transferred to Iran from Turkmenistan, 54 from Thailand, 29 from Kuwait, and four from Armenia.

Shahrokhi added that five foreigners (four from Turkmenistan and one from Azerbaijan) who were incarcerated in Iran have been transferred to their countries during the same period.
